Summary of Trip

Our team of thirty-five people from seven churches in Bulloch and Screven counties will spend eight days serving the people of the Grand Bahamas.

While in the Grand Bahamas, the team will have several opportunities to share the love of God with people there in some very tangible ways.

We will provide construction work to repair homes and structures damaged in recent hurricane activity. Our plan is to help complete the Hunter Youth Training Center which was damaged during hurricane Wilma. We will be doing some plumbing work, drywall work, and painting. There are several thousand youth in the area that will benefit from using this center (after school, training, study, etc.) We will also be doing some work on a nearby home.

We will also work with some of the local children as we provide a sort of 'Vacation Bible School' experience. The youth have been preparing some brief skits that will be used to teach Bible lessons, practicing music to share, as well as coming up with lots of games to play with the children.

The group will have the opportunity to do a little site-seeing while on the island. They will spend some time enjoying the beach, swimming, snorkeling, visiting the market area, etc. The purpose of the trip is to share God's love with the people of the Bahamas, but it is also important for each of us to soak up this wonderful and beautiful piece of God's creation.

One of the thrills of preparing for a trip like this has been seeing how the teenagers have connected with one another. We truly do have a tremendous group of youth working on this trip. For these high-school students to volunteer their winter break - a full week out of school - and to raise money to travel to a foreign country to serve for eight days is evidence of the maturity of faith they have. (well... that and it IS to the Bahamas!)

The team plans to share their mission experiences with church groups after the return from the mission trip. We hope that by sharing with others locally about all that we will experience, we may be able to encourage others to find opportunities for missional service, whether it be in countries like the Bahamas or right here in Bulloch and Screven counties. If you are in the local Bulloch-Screven county area and are interested in having our group come to share about our experiences, please contact Josh Burnham at josh _ _ burnhamAThotmailDOTcom.
