Pre-Trip Meetings

The mission team has met several times over the past few months planning and preparing for our time in the Bahamas. We've hashed through piles of paper work, filling out forms and gathering passport numbers and securing reservations. Dr. Joe sure has a lot of papers to keep up with!

We've eaten together - love that fried chicken from Vandy's!

And sweet tea... do they have sweet tea in the Bahamas?

Since we're coming together from different churches and schools, it's taken a little time to get to know one another, and it's still a process. We've learned we have a few youth who play musical instruments (including a violinist), some who are pretty athletic, and someone who can say the whole alphabet backwards! We even had one who claims to be able to rap, but we can't get him to prove it... yet!

We have two girls on our team, Brooke Brookins and Audrey Mallard, who are talented dancers and have put together a dance to share during some of our worship times with churches in the Bahamas.

We've been rehearsing brief skits and coming up with lots of games to play with the children.

Several of our youth with musical talents have been meeting to work on some worship songs. Mr. Glenn has lead this group and they're just about ready to 'take this show on the road!' Actually, it's less of a show and more of an invitation to worship God through songs.

All in all, it's coming together and we're getting excited about all that lies ahead. Our next team meeting is Friday, Feb. 9 at Statesboro FUMC.

Praying for your trip to be everything God intends it to be. May you all be abundantly blessed by the work you do, and may hearts be touched and changed by your love of Christ.

Not sure if my first attempt "took". Just wanted you all to know that you are being lifted up in prayer. May God's work be accomplished, may you all be blessed by what you are doing, and may hearts and lives be touched and changed by your Christ-like love.

Oh, how I look forward to hearing about your wonderful experiences! For you first timers, who knows what God will do during this week? Those with mission trip experience can attest to His marvelous works, and what a joy it is to be a part of something only God can do. Be blessed, and be a blessing!

Hey guys:
Hope this Tuesday is going good. Thinking of you. It is still pretty chilly here in Statesboro. Hope the weather is warm and enjoyable there. I guess you all are in to the swing of your project and Bible school. Will look forward to hearing about it on your return.
Blessings Betty Bird Hodges
